Please label and separate snack from lunch. Snack may be placed in a plastic of zip lock bag.

Review the lunch menu with your child as we would like them to choose something they will enjoy and eat.

Please put the lunch money in an envelope clearly marked with your child's name and the amount of money enclose. Please place it in your child's folder.

Extra Clothes

Please keep a complete change of clothes in your child's backpack in a plastic bag that is labeled with their name. It will remain in their backpack for the entire year.

If you are planning to change the way your child returns home at any time, you must send a written note to us.

Thank you for sending in the supplies with your child. We will let you know when the supplies start to run low.

Here's  What's Happening in Kindergarten!

We are learning to identify upper and lowercase letters and their sounds.  As we read books, the children are learning to identify the front cover, the back cover, and the title. We are learning how to properly hold a book and turn the pages. As we read stories, we are learning to retell the story by sharing our favorite parts. We make predictions as well. These skills will help the children to improve their comprehension of the text. Please be sure to discuss stories with your child by making predictions and asking them to recall favorite events in sequence.

We are learning to write our first name by using an upper-case letter for the first letter. We are also learning that our letters start at the top and go to the bottom.  As we draw pictures to communicate our ideas, the children will begin to use their letter sounds to write a label.

Please provide time to practice name and letter writing at home. The children have enjoyed working with Playdoh to form their letters in school. This is another fun way to practice at home, and it has the added benefit of strengthening their finger muscles at the same time!

We are learning to count to 30! Each day we count our friends in the classroom, and sing songs.  As we count, we use the words double check to be sure that we have counted correctly.

Identifying numbers and how to properly form numbers is another objective. As we read and count, we are finding matching sets for each number. We will continue with the children creating sets to match a given number.

We have introduced the calendar. The children are learning the days of the week and the month. As we read the calendar, the children use the words today, tomorrow, and yesterday.

Please practice counting objects at home with your child and reading the calendar to reinforce skills taught at school.

Social Studies

We are learning about good citizenship and classroom expectations. The children will identify and describe the traits of a quality student. As the children demonstrate quality behavior, we provide reinforcement with a punch on our Charm cards.

We will be observing the seasonal changes that occur in the Fall.
