Rebecca Cottle-Makhene, MA, LPC, RPT-S, CATP

Originally from West Virginia, I received dual undergraduate degrees from Marshall University in Huntington, WV in both Psychology and Counseling.  I later received my MA in counseling from Marshall University in 2001 with not only an emphasis in school counseling but also an emphasis in the clinical setting.

I have worked with both adults and children within the mental health profession for over 20 years.  My experiences are varied, from working at residential facilities for adults, children, and teens to working in social services as a protective services worker for children and families, and later as a court ordered therapist for abused children. With every role I have always had a passion for helping children and their families.  Throughout those roles I always felt as though interaction with the children everyday would be the best way to make a positive difference, this belief is what has lead me to school counseling. I began my school counseling career as the full-time counselor at Mullen Elementary in 2002.  Along with being a school counselor I am also a licensed counselor and provide therapy in the clinical setting for children and families at an outside agency.

I am at Mullen every day and work primarily with grade levels 3-5.  I may be contacted through email: cottlerr@pwcs.edu or during school hours at 703.330.0427.
